My first time in Portugal has been such a blast! Strolling through narrow streets in Porto and Lisbon, driving along the coast with our van and sleeping at the most beautiful beaches was an amazing experience. I’ve collected some of my favorite photos from this roadtrip to present here as a photo diary. I hope you’ll enjoy it!
Our Van
Starting a bit south of Porto, we drove all the way down to Lisbon and then back up again with our beautiful van. Every night we slept at a different place and enjoyed having breakfast in bed with the wonderful ocean view.
This van was our little home for those two weeks and I must say, we really loved the van life!
2. Costa Nova (Aveiro)
On our first day we drove to Aveiro and spent the night just behind the dunes of Costa Nova.
3. Figuera da Foz
After first having some trouble starting the van in the morning, we finally continued our trip to Figuera da Foz.
4. Nazaré and Óbidos
On the next day we headed more south and did a quick stop at a viewpoint in Nazaré.
Then we continued our drive to beautiful Óbidos, which is voted as the 45. most romantic city in the world. This isn’t a surprise for me, because this city is absolutely stunning.
5. Praia da Ursa
The Praia da Ursa is located right next to the most western point of Europe and one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. To get there, we had to follow a very steep climb, but it was absolutely worth it.
6. Sintra
Sintra was our next stop and to be honest, we didn’t enjoy this place that much, so I haven’t been that inspired to take a ton of photos. There are different castles on the mountain, which are surrounded by forest and parks.
7. Lisbon
We finally reached Lisbon and started strolling around its narrow streets.
8. Ericeira
After exploring Lisbon and strolling through its narrow streets, we started driving back north again. Ericeira was our next stop and the vibes there really reminded me of Byron Bay in Australia.
9. Nazaré
This beach was by far my favorite place to spent the night. We camped on the cliff and only had company by one other van. The beach underneath was empty, very big and had the most beautiful waves.
10. Praia de Mira
This beach was also very nice, but since we slept at this beautiful beach in Nazaré the night before, it was not able to compete.
11. Praia de Cortegaca
For our last night, we didn’t even look for a place to stay and wanted to be the last place to be a surprise. We just drove up north and ended up at this beautiful vintage camp site, which has to be a photographer’s paradise.
We spent our last night again in beautiful Porto, before flying back home the next day. I hope you enjoyed this little photo diary!
